On March 24th I was stunned to discover this in my inbox:
Your Google Account has been disabled
It looks like this account has content that involves a child being sexually
abused or exploited. This is a severe violation of Google's policies and might be illegal. My blog after 11 years and no serious issues or violations was suddenly nuked, and THIS was their reason!?!?!?! Those of you who have followed my blog would surely attest to no such content ever being present. EVER! I obviously appealed but how do you appeal something when you are given no context or specifics to what you are being accused of? In what became a farcical kangaroo court, and couple days later this was the decision to my appeal:
Hello, Thanks for reaching out to us. We have reviewed your request regarding your account and confirmed that you have violated our Terms of Service. Therefore, we will not reinstate your account. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more information about our policies and the actions we take in response to policy violations on our products. Regards,
Zero response to my specific inquiries, just a blanket, big-tech-vauge-we-can-kill-you-off-for-any-reason-we-see-fit form reply. To be even more absurd, by them not specifying the content or context they made their decision on, they provided me zero ability to not run afoul in the future should I choose to remain here long term! I'm sure you can see how absolutely stupid that is... So after 11+ years, and 9.17+ Million views, big tech puts their jackboots to me. I've taken the past week to decide what to do from here. In hindsight I've should have seen this coming as a little over a year ago I had someone lodge an image complaint and fire off a series of unhinged threat laced emails to me over images she herself put up on the internet, and now doesn't want anyone thinking she's trans. From that date forward, my blog traffic was cut almost in half, and it would seem I was now in their crosshairs. But the reason they used was entirely rubbish. I've filed a second appeal which so far has been tantamount to screaming into an abyss, and I expect little if anything resembling logical thought in return. So for now, here I am, just like 11+ years ago, speaking to a universe of none with my first post. So where do we go from here? |
